Existing domain setup

Host a domain you already own on Netlify

Publish your site on Netlify, add your custom domain, then point your registrar's DNS records to Netlify so visitors reach the deployed site.

Apex domain example.com

Use Netlify DNS or point the apex record to Netlify's load balancer.

Subdomain www.example.com

Create a CNAME record that targets your Netlify site URL.

01

Deploy the site

Connect your repository or upload your site to Netlify. Confirm the Netlify preview URL works before changing DNS.

02

Add the domain

In Netlify, open Site configuration, go to Domain management, and add the domain you already own.

03

Update DNS

Either use Netlify DNS nameservers at your registrar or keep your registrar's DNS and add the records Netlify shows.

04

Enable HTTPS

After DNS propagates, Netlify provisions a certificate. Set the preferred primary domain and redirect aliases to it.
